R&F Encaustic Opaque Colour Set
This set has some of our brighter, more primary colours - all selected with mixing in mind. This set features six of our studio-size 40 ml cakes of Encaustic and comes packaged in Ampersand's cradled 6" x 6" Encausticbord™.
Colours included:
Titanium White
Cadmium Yellow Med
Cadmium Red Med
Chromium Oxide
Cobalt Blue
Ivory Black
Encaustic is a type of wax-based paint made from beeswax, damar resin, and pigment. This paint is kept molten on a heated palette and applied to an absorbent surface. To fuse the paint, it is reheated after application. The term “encaustic” originates from the Greek word 'enkaustikos', which means “to burn in,” highlighting the process of fusing the paint with heat.
